- Objective1: To collect images taken from a UAV and smartphones.
- Objective 2: To extract different disease features and develop representative feature descriptors (“signatures”) from images.
- Objective 3: Based on objective 1 and 2 above, to develop new algorithms for detection of crop diseases and their severity assessment by synthesising two type of data sources and using big data-driven, advanced image-based pattern recognition approaches.
- Objective 4: based on objective 1, 2 and 3 above, to develop a modular, cloud-based diagnostic software system, and to test, evaluate and refine the diagnostic tool. The output will provide a case study for evaluating the feasibility of using UAVs for crop disease detection.
- Objective 5: To disseminate and exploit the research results.
